I found this thing about the Microsoft Imagine cup 2011. Its a student tech competition focused on finding solutions to real world issues, which I thought was relevant to our last 112 project.

Have trouble waking up in the morning?

I have trouble waking up in the morning, and got very good at sleeping through my old alarm clock. I got so frustrated one day that I googled “most annoying alarm clocks" and found this webpage. I then ordered my new alarm clock and haven’t missed a class since (:

So if you’re anything like me take a look at the site bellow, and order your new alarm clock.

"I chose this link as news as not only being rather funky but also that its a complex yet beautiful design that fits seamlessly in both day & night. I can imagine these organic curves being an amazing interactive experience to explore, captured in the linked photos."

I came across this article while researching for the last project.
It basically outlines a technology which will drastically shape the way we use things like computers, tvs and dvd players in the future. It links up your different devices, allowing you to stream things faster and between the different devices.

Pretty hilariously wasteful process

"This exhibition of over 75 objects showcases the finest Japanese design of household products from the 1950s to the present-day. These selected modern designs provide a glimpse into the hopes and dreams of the people who used the products, as well as the designers and corporations who created them. This exhibition illustrates the trends and features of Japanese design at specific time periods, allowing a unique perspective into today’s Japanese design culture."

Reactable

Reactable is a revolutionary electronic musical instrument. It allows people to create electronic music by interacting with various objects, which interact with each other to create music. Objects can be placed on the table and can be manipulated by the user by bringing them closer to other objects, changing their orientation, or using various gestures to change the objects settings. The objects interactions then produce music and you are provided with visual feedback on the table/screen to show how the objects are interacting.
