Changing courses at other faculties

If you want to change a course from another faculty, please see our Architecture & Design student administration office to obtain a course add/drop form. Then see the relevant faculty of your elective/minor courses to change to a different stream/minor or to get wait-listed. Once approval is given from the relevant faculty or you are on the wait-list, please bring the course add/drop form back to the Architecture & Design student administration office for processing.

THIS WEEK IS ORIENTATION WEEK. DON'T MISS IT!


FIRST YEAR COMPULSORY STUDENT ORIENTATION
WEDNESDAY 23rd February 2011 from 10.00am – 12.00pm 
in Lecture Theatres 1 and 2 at Te Aro campus, 139 Vivian Street, Wellington
This is your official introduction to the School of Design in preparation to beginning your studies, therefore we require full attendance. You also need to sign up for streams in person, please find stream preferences information below.

YOUR TIMETABLE FOR 2011
The first trimester starts on Monday 28TH FEBRUARY 2011. Find out your course times by visiting the online timetable.

COURSES
To check your courses visit the myvictoria portal. For first time users of myvictoria your login information can be found on your offer of study.

ENROLMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
We note that some of you have not yet returned your Offer of Study. This offer must be submitted by you to complete the enrolment process. If you are unsure of your enrolment status please visit myvictoria portal and access your student record by following the instructions on the attached PDF document.

Stream Preferences
Your courses have two components; weekly lectures, and studios/tutorials/labs. There may be more than one studio per week, so carefully check the timetable. If you are enrolled in the following courses in the first trimester you will need to sign up for ‘studio streams’. Ensure that you sign up for your studio/tutorial/labs sessions as soon as you can.

·       DSDN 111 – Ideas and Principles of Design
·       DSDN 142 – Creative Coding
·       DSDN 144 – Digital Photographics 1

The "Sign up" sheets will be available on Level 1, Te Aro Campus from Wednesday 23rd February 2011. Allocations are done on a "first in, first served, basis", with absolute limits on the number accepted into each group. If you are unsure what to do, there will be student helpers and staff during your orientation to answer any questions you may have.

Design Materials and Equipment
The first year programme has a list of design materials and equipment that you are required to purchase. These materials will be sold during orientation, Wednesday 23rd February 2011. If you miss out on getting this equipment during your orientation, you must ensure that you have the art and graphic supplies in time for the first lecture/studio session:

Main kit:         these supplies from Gordon Harris are currently priced at $160.00
Basic kit         these supplies from Gordon Harris are currently priced at $95.50
                          
Payment can be made to Gordon Harris by cash or cheque (with ID). If you wish to pay by credit card, you will have to visit
their retail shop at 170 Victoria Street.

STUDENT ADMINISTRATION
Our student administration office is located on the level 1, Te Aro Campus. Student enquiries are welcomed from 8.30am – 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

You can come to see us with any questions might have. Student Advisers are your first point of contact for things like admission requirements, degree planning, changing courses and transfer of credit from other tertiary institutions. They also deal with enrolment, organise exams and maintain student records. The advisers will provide administrative support throughout your study.

Note: The office will be closed for one hour every Tuesday morning from 8.30am – 9.30am to hold a weekly staff meeting.

2011 ORIENTATION BOOKLET
We have prepared a 2011 Orientation Booklet for you that contains useful information regarding orientation and information that will assist you with your first-year with us. This booklet will be posted out to you at the beginning of February.
